The Author aims at enlarging the concept of “human criminology”, including in it not only new victims belonging to overlooked fields, but also the peculiar victim represented by the offender. In order to achieve such results, he considers trauma as the common ground which associates offender and victim, and the terrible face of emotion of awe (tremendous, terrific) to the condition of both; conversely, the other face of awe (sublime) is experimented by people who assist to crime without partecipating in it. From such point of view, an oxymoric perspective ought to be assumed by a criminology which intends to go beyond the punitive desire and to contrast it, in order to understand what is happening in the offender, recuperating him to a human dimension.
