Abstract
During his famous oration Pro Caelio Cicero makes, as operating a self-censorship, an elliptical and enigmatic mention to a mysterious pyxis of Clodia: thus obtaining the effect of intriguing the public by suggesting the existence of an obscene mystery behind his reticence in this regard. This rhetorical effect can be compared to that of another famous little box, the one shown in a brothel by a Chinese client to the protagonist of Belle de Jour by Bunuel, and whose content was mysterious to the director of the film himself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
