Renato Castellani theatre director The aim of this article is to investigate the role of Renato Castellani as theatre director. Between 1944 and 1976 he directed one review, two comedies and two operas, but critics (especially theatre critics) didn’t appreciate much this side of his work, which is nowadays almost forgotten. Founded on documentary basis, the article reconstructs the five steps of Castellani’s «theatrical journey» and discuss the relation between the theatre and the film director.
