This work is based on a National Research project about the use of thermal water in Roman Italy, realized by the Universities of Padua, Genua and Verona and the cnr of Rome. The outcome of this project is a catalogue of literary, epigraphic and archaeological sources describing the thermal centers and goers, in order to understand their social belongings and geographical origin. The aim of the present investigation is to analyze some deities connected to the waters and to understand if for the Romans were the waters or the gods protecting thermal sources to have healing power.
