The aim of my paper is to study the anaphora in the Apologoi section of the Odyssey (book IX-XII). From the examples examined (IX 29-36, X 340-342, XI 206-209, XII 189-191), the intentional use of this rethorical device as distinctive feature of Odysseus' speeches in the poem has surfaced. Since this figure of speech can be frequently found characterizing the discourses of a character who has the important role of storyteller in the Odyssey, it is therefore not difficult to associate Homer with an awareness of the use of the anaphora.

Abstract

The aim of my paper is to study the anaphora in the Apologoi section of the Odyssey (book IX-XII). From the examples examined (IX 29-36, X 340-342, XI 206-209, XII 189-191), the intentional use of this rethorical device as distinctive feature of Odysseus' speeches in the poem has surfaced. Since this figure of speech can be frequently found characterizing the discourses of a character who has the important role of storyteller in the Odyssey, it is therefore not difficult to associate Homer with an awareness of the use of the anaphora.
