In accordance with the the agenda of the jointly promoted UNESCO and IOM "International migration programme", museums have been elected as special venues to foster an inter-cultural dialogue and thus facilitate integration. Within this analitic framework, the author takes into consideration the migrant museums recently founded in some European port cities which became the most important gateways to the Americas throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s when the Great Migration took place.
