Adapted physical activity consists of programmes of non-medical exercise, carried out in specifically designed groups. Their goal is to change people’s lifestyle and to obtain secondary and tertiary prevention of disabilities. Adapted physical activity is a valuable tool to promote good health and the maintaining of a good quality of life. A particular group that may benefit from it is the ageing population. This assumption comes up beside another important aspect of Motor Sciences: sports activities. Sport Master (from 35 years old onwards) is spreading rapidly on a national and global scale. It is an interesting reality that deserves to be studied. These two tools, used in combination, can provide a physical and mental well-being, as long as training programmes are planned according to each person’s age, needs, physiological problems and motivation. This study examined the fitness level of a group of master sprinters compared to the standards of non-athletes of the same age. The results show a significantly higher fitness level in these subjects.
