A new portrait of Ippolita Trivulzio, wife of the first Prince of Monaco, Honoré II, is presented here with the attribution to the Milanese painter Fede Galizia, suggested on the basis of an inscription on the back of the painting as well as through stilistic and formal elements. The commission of this work is considered in the context of the the historical, cultural and personal relationships between the Grimaldi and important Milanese families such as the Trivulzio and Landi. Attention is cast also on the important role of Onoré II as collector.

Abstract
