This qualitative research aims to explore the representations of health, illness and caring in 30 individuals who work as caretakers in Italy and coming from three different cultural places: East-Europe, South-America and Italy. We led five focus group with the participants: three focus group for people who came from the same geographic area (intra-ethnic) and two “mixed” (inter-ethnic). Interesting ideas came to light from our study on similarities and differences regarding the conceptualizations (health, illness and caring) which were analyzed. Moreover our results emphasized the different value which is assigned to the family by the three ethnic sub-groups, comparing the cultural model of managing the illness which was learnt in their belonging context to one in their inclusive context.
