A longitudinal study is carried out to investigate the role of Executive Function (EF) in predicting math and literacy from kindergarten to primary school. A sample of 55 children (M = 68 months) performed an EF complex battery during the last year of kindergarten; the same children were assessed with math (written and mental calculation, numbers knowledge) and literacy tasks (reading speed and spelling accuracy) at the end of the first year of primary school. A principal components analysis was used to explore the EF latent structure; then the predictive power of EF in relation to school achievement was examined. Results showed that EF dimensions predict both literacy and math achievements one year later.

Abstract
A longitudinal study is carried out to investigate the role of Executive Function (EF) in predicting math and literacy from kindergarten to primary school. A sample of 55 children (M = 68 months) performed an EF complex battery during the last year of kindergarten; the same children were assessed with math (written and mental calculation, numbers knowledge) and literacy tasks (reading speed and spelling accuracy) at the end of the first year of primary school. A principal components analysis was used to explore the EF latent structure; then the predictive power of EF in relation to school achievement was examined. Results showed that EF dimensions predict both literacy and math achievements one year later.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
