Abstract

Microaerophilic production of xylitol by Pachysolen tannophilus from detoxified hemicellulose hydrolyzate was optimal between pH values 6.0 to 7.5 when about 90% of xylose was utilized for xylitol production, the rest being fermented to ethanol.
