From 2020 to 2023, a group of four Italian universities carried out a national research project (PRIN project: progetti di rilevante interesse nazionale) regarding the presence and circulation of Italian grammars and vocabularies, as well as Spanish translations of Italian non-literary texts, in Hispanic American territories between the sixteenth and twentieth century. The aim of this paper is to describe the main characteristics of the project (theoretical approach, methodology, objectives and materials) and to present some of the results achieved by the research group.
