1563, the Foundation of the Academy of the Arts of Design in Florence: Intentions and Protagonists. This essay aims to examine the initial stages of the Academy of the Arts of Drawing of Florence thanks to an accurate reconstruction of the main characters’ activity, who contributed to the Academy birth in 1563. First of all, this research sifts through the epistolary exchange between Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici, Giorgio Vasari and Don Vincenzio Borghini; then it pays close attention to the drafting of the Academy Chapters, in order to highlight the role that the mentioned characters had in the early working stage and the following changes which lasted until 1565.
