In recent years microgrids (MGs) have been gaining growing interest with respect to large scale power plants thanks to the strong presence of Renewable Energy Sources by now. In particular, the focus is on those MGs that operate in islanded mode, indeed in this condition problems regarding the MG stability arise. In order to ensure its stability and to guarantee good performance, advanced controllers for the MG's components have to be designed. In this article a decentralized second order sliding mode controller for a storage unit is developed. Since it ignores the MG layout, this strategy, which needs only local measurements, aims to make the installation and configuration of new units more flexible and simpler as possible.

Abstract
In recent years microgrids (MGs) have been gaining growing interest with respect to large scale power plants thanks to the strong presence of Renewable Energy Sources by now. In particular, the focus is on those MGs that operate in islanded mode, indeed in this condition problems regarding the MG stability arise. In order to ensure its stability and to guarantee good performance, advanced controllers for the MG's components have to be designed. In this article a decentralized second order sliding mode controller for a storage unit is developed. Since it ignores the MG layout, this strategy, which needs only local measurements, aims to make the installation and configuration of new units more flexible and simpler as possible.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
