This paper’s endavour is to show the substantial continuity between learning and teaching. The main basis of this identity is concealed in the idea of tradition. Observe and experiment in awareness and mutual commotion: these are the 4 general keywords which join, and bind in one thing, student and teacher. From Plato to Comenius to modern pedagogy the everlasting ideal of transmission ‘from mouth to ear’ is the real trait d’union of every school.
