La scena oratoria: sententiae teatrali e modalità della composizione nella Pro Sestio e nella Pro Caelio (insiemi di citazioni e architettura argomentativa nell’oratoria ciceroniana del 56 a.C.)

The examination of the 'de ludis' section of the oration Pro Sestio shows how much of this long excursion is based on a series of tragic and comic quotes, which appear to be not an ornamental and accessory element, but the very core of the invention of this section. It follows that a list of sententiae taken from comedy and especially from tragedy, and used in the shows organized by Sestius first to expose Clodius to sarcasm, and then to allude to Cicero, to his merits towards Rome and his exile, have probably constituted the layout on which Cicero built his oration, thus renewing for his audience the pathetic effects already achieved in his absence during the performances of 57 a. C.

L'esame della sezione 'de ludis' della Pro Sestio mostra come gran parte di questo lungo excursus sia fondato su una serie di citazioni tragiche e comiche, che appaiono essere non un elemento ornamentale ed accessorio, ma il nucleo stesso dell'inventio di questa sezione. Ne consegue che un elenco di sententiae tratte dalla commedia e soprattutto dalla tragedia, ed utilizzate negli spettacoli organizzati da Sestio prima per esporre Clodio al sarcasmo, e poi per alludere a Cicerone, ai suoi meriti verso Roma e al suo esilio, hanno probabilmente costituito la scaletta su cui Cicerone ha costruito la sua orazione, rinnovando così per il suo pubblico gli effetti patetici già a suo tempo ottenuti in sua assenza durante gli spettacoli del 57 a. C.
