Cydonia mala (per l'interpretazione di Aen. 10, 324-325, con una nota su Theocr. 5, 94-95)

The name of Cydon, at Aen. 10, 325, is a talking name connected with the description, in the previous verse, with its description as flaventem prima lanugine malas: the lanugo is in fact typical of quince apples, which can be assimilated to the cheeks of the young ones whose first beard appears (see Theocr. 5, 94-95).

Il nome di Cydon, ad Aen. 10, 325 è un nome parlante collegato con la descrizione, al verso precedente, con la sua descrizione come flaventem prima lanugine malas: la lanugo è infatti tipica delle mele cotogne, che possono venire assimilate alle guance dei giovani cui spunta la prima barba (vedi Theocr. 5, 94-95).
