Rilievo e analisi di catene metalliche nell’edilizia storica: studio e metodologia per identificare criticità. Survey and analysis of iron tie-rods in masonry buildings: study and methodology to identify critical issues

Historic iron tie-rods are relevant structural elements in heritage masonry buildings, contributing to guarantee an efficient connection between wa lls and playing a decisive role in the control of horizontal thrusts. The aim of this study is to provide new system of analysis to a mechanical characterization of ancient tierods, identifying criticality both implicit in the system of construction, both from the degradation of the material in time, in order to improve the models to assess the structural safety of historic buildings.

Le catene storiche sono elementi strutturali sono elementi strutturali rilevanti in edifici storici in muratura, contribuendo a garantire un efficace collegamento tra le pareti e giocare un ruolo decisivo nel controllo di spinte orizzontali. Lo scopo di questo studio è fornire nuovo sistema di analisi per una caratterizzazione meccanica degli antichi tiranti metallici, individuando criticità sia implicite nel sistema di costruzione, sia dovuti dal degrado del materiale nel tempo, al fine di migliorare i modelli matematici per la valutazione della sicurezza strutturale degli edifici storici.
