In this paper, an advanced nonlinear control technique based on the so-called FeedBack Linearization (FBL) theory is presented and employed for the control of both voltage and active power produced by a synchronous generator. Starting from the basic machine equations, the model of the generator is developed in the suitable form for the FBL application. The control algorithm is then described in detail.
