The restoration of architectural heritage, in the past, has entertained a close relationship with aesthetics. The aesthetic categories and the value judgment made it possible to construct theories and methodologies that have allowed the identification of the objects to be protected and guided the restoration. Only at the end of the twentieth century it has broken this bond. In the twentieth century, aesthetics, however, has changed its skin several times passing through the rejection of the categories to embrace the linguistic turn that characterized the thought throughout the second half of the Century, merging, almost to disappear, with the hermeneutic and semiotic analysis. For almost twenty years, however, particularly in the field of German and Italian studies, they were conducted reflections on the role of sensations, emotions and feelings; on the way in which "we feel" in a particular place and then on our way of relating with the world and the objects that populate it. Speaking of "atmospheres", it can contribute to the conservation of cultural heritage, providing a tool to the understanding, more deeply, the object of his studies, and more effectively communicate the importance of Protection.
