Over the past years, physicians and researchers had integrated several interventions aiming to improve the mortality in post cardiac arrest patients. The interventions, including prehospital management i.e. early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before the arrival of emergency medical services and extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in refractory out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have been utilized and shown improvement of outcomes [1]. However, the mortality rate after cardiac arrest is still high as 50%. After the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC), early coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention also improve outcome among patients whose post resuscitation ECG showed ST elevation myocardial infarction. Nevertheless, not only cardiovascular system but also the neurological damage affect poor outcome. The post cardiac arrest syndrome is a multifaceted combination of different pathological process, including brain injury, myocardial dysfunction and systemic/ischemic reperfusion response those are associated with high morbidity and mortality

Abstract
The post cardiac arrest syndrome is a multifaceted combination of different pathological process, including brain injury, myocardial dysfunction and systemic/ischemic reperfusion response those are associated with high morbidity and mortalityI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
