In this article, starting from the well known and well studied debate on the political speeches in the Homeric poems and on their relation with the political oratory, I try, using the passages concerning this topic in Cicero, Quintilian and Seneca well found and analyzed by A. Ronconi in a section of his work Interpreti latini di Omero, to highlight the value of the Homeric oral "encyclopedia" also in this so relevant ambit of politics.
