This article deals with the political problem of the timé as a peculiar element of the personal power in the Iliad. The wrath of Achilles coming from the struggle against the commander in chief Agamemnon is an archetypal example of this idea of power. Both the contenders have to defend their personal ghéras - Criseis and Briseis - not in order to maintain a property, but in order to preserve an essential element of their timé and, consequently, of their power. In the article I analyze this topic in the first book of the Iliad, focusing on the relevance of the ideas of ghéras and timé in designating the men who are really considered able to govern on the Achaean army. In the last section I present a brief summa of the uses of ghéras as an element of power in some Greek ancient authors.

Abstract
In the last section I present a brief summa of the uses of ghéras as an element of power in some Greek ancient authors.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
