Abstract

This is a short introduction to a Study about Paradoxes composed of three papers: Dario Palladino explains how efforts to overcome three famous paradoxes related to the concept of infinity produced important mathematical results. Luisa Montecucco reviews ancient problems raised by paradoxes related to the concept of truth with possible contemporary solutions devised in philosophy and in logic. Nino Zanghì considers common experiential intuitions about the notion of time to explain how physics challenges them giving an account of its deep nature that would allow such paradoxical possibilities as time travel.
