The acquisition of knowledge proceeds through a forced passage: the experimental observation. This work deals with physical-chemical concepts related to the flame through the development of practical and thepretical activities concerning the light-matter interaction and the heat exchanges. The target is constituted by a second class of a Technological Scientific High School: introductory questionnaires, practical applications, open discussions and group projects are proposed. Power of observation, laws extrapolation ability, experimental results elaboration are evaluated.
