A new, simple method for the determination of the degree of texture of superconducting grains inside Ag-sheathed (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 tapes is presented. This procedure is based on the relevant anisotropy existing between the in-plane and out-of-plane critical current densities in Bi-based superconducting compounds and involves magnetic measurements performed for different orientation of the external magnetic field with respect to the tape surface. In particular, we have monitored the evolution of the precursor (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 grain texture during, the cold rolling process of the Powder-In-Tube process, as well as at various steps of the heating ramp preceding the Bi(2223) phase formation.

Abstract
A new, simple method for the determination of the degree of texture of superconducting grains inside Ag-sheathed (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 tapes is presented. This procedure is based on the relevant anisotropy existing between the in-plane and out-of-plane critical current densities in Bi-based superconducting compounds and involves magnetic measurements performed for different orientation of the external magnetic field with respect to the tape surface. In particular, we have monitored the evolution of the precursor (Bi,Pb)(2)Sr2Ca1Cu2O8 grain texture during, the cold rolling process of the Powder-In-Tube process, as well as at various steps of the heating ramp preceding the Bi(2223) phase formation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
