This paper addresses the problem of computing, by the moment method, the electromagnetic field induced inside a weakly scattering object. The main feature of the method is that starting from the well-known Born approximation, a matrix power series expansion can be developed, so that the solution of the problem doesn't require that any linear system be solved, unlike the usual solution by the moment method. A theoretical analysis is made in order to obtain some criteria for the convergence of the power series expansion. Finally, some simulations are performed in order to assess the capabilities and limitations of the proposed method.

Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of computing, by the moment method, the electromagnetic field induced inside a weakly scattering object. The main feature of the method is that starting from the well-known Born approximation, a matrix power series expansion can be developed, so that the solution of the problem doesn't require that any linear system be solved, unlike the usual solution by the moment method. A theoretical analysis is made in order to obtain some criteria for the convergence of the power series expansion. Finally, some simulations are performed in order to assess the capabilities and limitations of the proposed method.
