A classification methodology has been introduced to monitor the surface roughness depending on the tool wear level. After a statistical study on the features extracted from the digitized profiles, a cluster analysis has been performed. The results indicate the capability of this methodology to discriminate the wear levels through the surface profiles.

Abstract
