Gli studi proposti costituiscono l'esito di un'attività di proficua collaborazione tra diverse discipline, condotta nell'ambito di uno studio finalizzato, in prospettiva, alla conservazione del monumento e al recupero dell'intera area. Un'indagine particolarmente ampia e articolata, della quale si presentano alcuni contenuti particolamente interessanti relativi allo studio di carattere storico-artistico e all'analisi archeologica dell'edifico ecclesiastico. Rita Vecchiattini is concerned with the archeological analysis which was systematically carried out on the entire convent complex. The reading of the stratigraphy - which used different techniques and sources of absolute dating, among which mensiocronologia of the bricks and ashlar, and the mineralogical-petrographical analysis of the mortars - has made it possible to distinguish eight phases of constructionrelated to just as many periods which cover a span of time reaching from the XII to the XX centuries. Actually, only the first four phases concern the definition of the building complex in its architectural and functional structure, while the last four phases - from the XVII to the XX century - refer to repairs, adaptations or restoration work.
