The paper illustrates the first results of the IntelliGIS project, whose aim is to integrate the functionalities of relational and spatial query of the GIS with automated reasoning techniques. At this stage the research has been fosussed both the introduction in the GIS of functionalities allowing the possibility to taking into account also qualitative factors currently considered by the procedures of landscape assessmant and the possibility to render such an instrument usable also by “non expert” users.
