Abstract: The work described in this paper has the following purposes: to identify the environmental impacts caused by RO-RO/Pax ferries during the normal operation and also in case of accidents and to study the most appropriate solutions in terms of design arrangements, machinery and onboard installations, operational procedures, to ensure very low or negligible environmental impacts during ships operation. This study has been performed for the assignment of the R.I.Na. GREEN STAR environmental class notation to seven ships of GNV fleet.
