Abstract

Three different yeasts, Pachysolen tannophilus, Debaryomyces hansenii, and Candida guilliermondii, were evaluated to ferment xylose solutions prepared from hardwood hemicellulose hydrolysates, among which P. tannophilus proved to be the most promising microorganism.
