The response of a perfectly flexible elastic suspended iced cable driven by mean wind speed, blowing perpendicularly to the cable’s plane, is investigated using a 2N discrete model. First the nonlinear equilibrium path is determined when the mean wind velocity is varying, performing a check on the modal convergence. Then the equations of motion are linearized to investigate small oscillations around the varied equilibrium configuration. A perturbation procedure is proposed in order to analytically evaluate the influence of wind mean force on cable aeroelastic instability.

Abstract
The response of a perfectly flexible elastic suspended iced cable driven by mean wind speed, blowing perpendicularly to the cable’s plane, is investigated using a 2N discrete model. First the nonlinear equilibrium path is determined when the mean wind velocity is varying, performing a check on the modal convergence. Then the equations of motion are linearized to investigate small oscillations around the varied equilibrium configuration. A perturbation procedure is proposed in order to analytically evaluate the influence of wind mean force on cable aeroelastic instability.File in questo prodotto:
