This paper is about the codicological context of one of the versions of the inventio crucis (BHL 4169), the “legend of Judas Cyriacus”, the only hagiographic component that appears in two disiecta membra, Paris. lat. B.N. 2769 foll. 1-23 + 4808 foll. 53-65, relocated in one single miscellaneous ms. from the “discovery De Bruyne” in 1924. It will be argued that the apparently incongruous collection as a whole can be understood as a coherent statement in the context of the anti-Jewish controversy.

Abstract
This paper is about the codicological context of one of the versions of the inventio crucis (BHL 4169), the “legend of Judas Cyriacus”, the only hagiographic component that appears in two disiecta membra, Paris. lat. B.N. 2769 foll. 1-23 + 4808 foll. 53-65, relocated in one single miscellaneous ms. from the “discovery De Bruyne” in 1924. It will be argued that the apparently incongruous collection as a whole can be understood as a coherent statement in the context of the anti-Jewish controversy.File in questo prodotto:
