Abstract

The Compagnia della Ripresa/Teatrostudio del Teatro Stabile di Genova, lead by Carlo Quartucci, gathered some of the more representative actors of the New Italian Theater. It was an effort by the Teatro Stabile to combine tradition and experimentation, but it had a short and difficult life, due to many contradictions from both sides. The article doesn’t intend to deny the acknowledged wide spread between institutional and off-theatre in the Sixties in Italy, but nonetheless tries to underline some removed dialectic aspects of mutual attraction and integration in the specific case of collaboration experienced in Genoa.
