Abstract

A NEW LECTURE OF THE DEVELOPMENT TERRITORY. THE STUDY CASE OF DUBAY Dubai, identified by contrast between Arab culture and typical modern metropolis’ contradictions, is full of glamour, due to its sea and desert sighting position, besides being an international tourism very sought after destination, for shopping, luxury and the world’s most sumptuous hotel. Though some scientists maintain that it has no identity and that never will have one, for the moment being Dubai, capital of the homonymous emirate, is being looked upon as a Middle East city with culture, religion, language and mentality decidedly unlike the occidental ones. In the last years, Dubai has become world wide renowned both for daring architectonic projects, inconceivable elsewhere and for the success of economical diversification process, so much so that Dubai’s tangible wealth does not originate in oil, but in a flourishing four sectors based economy: the traditional commerce development, the role as “commercial representative”, the tourist development and the terrific digital technology investment
