Abstract To celebrate the centennial of the foundation of the ICMI, an International Symposium was held in Rome from 5 to 8 March 2008, and was followed by the publication of the proceedings. This was also the occasion for the creation of a website about the events and the chief characters of the first hundred years of ICMI. In this paper we present some of the ways in which the centennial was celebrated.
