Abstract

A theoretical framework about the emerging business model of the Logistics Service Providers is outlined with reference to the reframing of their customers supply chains. The framework considers structural drivers such as mass customization and globalization as well as the ICT as an important enabling factor. The supply chains are reshaping as "value constellation" and the players in the network interact as partners according to a cooperative model. The value chains of the Logistics Service Providers and of their customers complement each others, and Logistics Service Providers act as integrators of customers supply chains. The relations between Logistics Service Providers and their customers as well as their competitive advantages are more and more depending on the value of the logistic services.
