The theme of the origin of man and animals has always been special interest. In the text are specifically analyzed verses 1, 73-90 and 399-440 of Ovid's Metamorphoses and in relation with the zoogonia of Diodorus. In Ovid's myth of origins, manufacture of man and animals from Earth birth serves to illustrate a truth that for him is when primary is preparing to compose a poem about metamorphosis, namely the idea that matter is editable and can adapt to ever-new forms and combinations.
