In this analysis we will consider two Zerocalcare comic reports: the first, Kobane Calling, recounts the stages of the author’s journey in the lands on the border between Syria and Turkey, with final destination Kobane, a border town in the province of Rojava, which became famous for being the stronghold where Kurdish fighters opposed the advance of the Islamic State group in early 2015. The second reportage, No sleep till Shengal (BAO Publishing, 2022), develops the research on the democratic confederalism proposed by some movements of the Kurdish people, and reports the journey undertaken by the author, in the spring of 2021, to Shengal, in Iraqi Kurdistan. Among the Roman author’s vast production, it was decided to investigate these two works because they are characterised by numerous expressive choices that exploit their popularity and communicative capacity to disseminate a complex geopolitical theme such as the struggle for self-determination conducted by the Kurdish people. In the course of the analysis, we will look at the attestations attributable to contemporary Italian and Romanesque, i.e. the linguistic poles most active in both works. This contribution will examine the attestations considered linguistically more eccentric with respect to the norm and invested with a symbolic and ideological value.

Abstract
This contribution will examine the attestations considered linguistically more eccentric with respect to the norm and invested with a symbolic and ideological value.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
