Purpose of this article is to shed light on the Gospel passages about the food choices of St. John, putting his ascetic vocation in comparison with the practice of nazirite, whose vote is often referred to the Baptist, and also highlight the contrast, explaining the reasons, between the Gospel description of the Baptist with the abundance of food that characterizes the celebration of St. John’s Eve, between 23 and 24 June.
