Lezioni introduttive, the author reflects on Giovanni Tarello’s ideal and ideological approach to the topic of property ownership, reconstructing his more or less hidden assessments of reforms (implemented or attempted) and judgements of the Italian Constitutional Court on property ownership matters. However, an examination of constitutional case-law alone is not always able to explain why certain legal policy trends have been pursued to the detriment of others.
