The historic center of Genoa was extensively and seriously affected by Allied bombing in the years between 1940 and 1945. The reconstruction plan approved in 1950 envisaged various reconstruction methods. The contribution focuses on the reconstructions of buildings which, having been completely destroyed, are not restored but completely rebuilt, to probe what was the objective of the reconstruction in relation to the identity of the urban organism as a whole.
