In this Special Issue of Neuropharmacology, we review recent advances in the understanding of the RRI and the mechanisms underlying its adaptation that could be relevant to the etiopathogenesis of central neuropsychiatric disorders, as well as to the development of new therapeutic approaches to control the activity and to restore the physiological functions, posing the basis for new targeted pharmacological interventions.

Abstract
