This thesis has two main aims: firstly, to propose a "perspectivist" reading of Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s ontology of the flesh; and secondly, to demonstrate how Merleau-Ponty’s approach to the theme of being-perspective connects him to major issues in contemporary thought. More specifically, this thesis aims to establish a dialogue among the chiasmatic perspectivism emerging from Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological ontology, contemporary explorations of the non-human, and ongoing transdisciplinary endeavors to conceptualize a being-perspective that transcends the ontological privilege traditionally ascribed to the human and conscious subject. Navigating these dual tensions, the thesis formulates an ontological proposition wherein “being-perspective”, surpassing distinctions between human and non-human, subject and object, self and other, becomes emblematic of Being itself. Following Merleau-Ponty, Being is understood as an intertwining of perspectives, an intrusion of differences. The thesis starts from the phenomenological problem of perspective – as the being-installed of a subject in the world – to arrive at the ontological problem of a being-perspective intrinsic to Being itself.
