Abstract

The moral action is only the conclusion and the fulfilment of a more complex and stratified process. A crucial passage concerns the part played by the “incentive”. Hence, on the one hand it has to be outlined the moral action, on the other hand it’s necessary to identify a spur able to foster that action. An investigation on the “incentive” tries exactly to clarify the role and the nature of that spur. This issue was brightly analyzed by Kant. He highlighted and distinguished the reasons which make right an action (Bewegungsgrund) and their difference from the impulse to realize that action (Triebfeder). Aim of the present article is to evaluate Kant’s contribution and to characterize it as a pivotal element of the whole Kantian transcendental inquiry.
