Abstract

The stylasterids, typical components of deep animal forests, are habitat-forming organisms that increases substrate complexity due to their hard and branched skeletons. They host a high biodiversified associated fauna, including numerous sponges often characterised by a miniaturised habitus. In this work we have studied the sponges associated with two species of these hydrocoralshydrocorals that live in the deep waters of the Ross Sea in Antarctica revealing the presence of 45 species including three species new for science.
