Pompei, domus VII, 14, 5: caratteristiche e sviluppo di un’abitazione nel periodo sannitico (IV-II secolo a.C.)

The domus VII, 14, 5 is a large house located in one of the central areas of Pompeii, overlooking Via dell’Abbondanza and close to the Forum. A stratigraphic analysis of the walls and the coatings was carried out inside the building and it led to the identifcation of multiple phases of the house’s life. This paper is reporting the results obtained from the study of the most ancient phases of the dwelling, those relating to the Samnite period: during these phases, the area has probably always maintained a residential function, with a succession of architectural complexes that have in part reused the pre-existing walls.
