Alfred Polgar e il theatrum mundi della formazione umana

The article focuses on the book "Handbuch des Kritikers" (Critic's Handbook), which is a collection of aphorisms about theatre. The author is Alfred Polgar, one of the greatest Viennese writers of the 20th century. In this book, Polgar deals with the human being constantly split between ideal and real, between nature, art and artificiality. Here, what Polgar writes about seems to be the "theatrum mundi" of human formation, where heroes, brutes and poets, madmen, geniuses and buffoons play alongside each other.
