La Conferenza di Genova nel dibattito politico italiano

The Conference of Genoa sparked a wide debate among Italian political forces, who recognized the importance of the event and took the opportunity to discuss major international political issues. The essay reconstructs the different positions of the main political forces, majority and opposition, mainly exploiting party and area newspapers as a historical source. In particular, three defining moments in the events of the Conference are explored: the expectations of the eve, the Franco-Russian clash in the opening session, and the reactions to the Rapallo Treaty of April 16th. A plurality of viewpoints emerges, allowing on the one hand a better assessment of the significance of the conference and the magnitude of what was at stake, and on the other to shed light on Italian politics itself in a dramatic phase of our history.
